The Secret To Getting a Huge Twitter Following Revealed: My Tips To Get Loads of Pointless Followers

Just a quick little article for you all. I've not had much time to write lately. Hopefully I'll be back with longer articles soon.

Two hundred and twenty three days ago I began an experiment. I decided to set up a twitter account that was absolutely dreadful, spammy and unbelievable dull. So bad that I won’t follow it and I seriously recommend you don’t follow either. The tweets are so appallingly awful that I’m not going to quote them here – it’s SearchWarp not SearchSh**. If you really want to see the tweets they're here.

The account is called grouptweeter and it does exactly what the name suggests. If you send a direct message to the account it just tweets it. Regardless. It works through a third party app called GroupTweet. Naturally people who want to sell something or get hits to an awful site use it. That’s why the tweets are so bad.

How many followers does this account deserve? Honestly, not very many, if any. How many does it have? One thousand six hundred and sixty. That’s amazing.

How did I manage to get that many followers? There is no great secret. Just follow people with a one to one follower to following ratio and follow everyone back (automatically – I can’t be bothered). Then you will get huge vanity numbers of which none give a damn about what you tweet. They’re in it for the vanity numbers too.

I tweeted a link asking people to click it to say that they were really following the account and no-one clicked it. At all.

You really can’t cheat twitter that easily. The best way to get people listening to you is not by racking up huge numbers of followers but by making people want to follow you. If people are interested in what you tweet then they will actually follow your tweets – with my mere 165 followers I can get 5-10 clicks. In the Twitterverse it seems that quality triumphs.

Nice little informative article Connor. Looking forward to some of your new stuff. Still nice to know that there are some people left on earth that think before they act.

What!? Are you SERIOUS!? J/K! Actually, I never got too much out the whole Tweeting thing. Some real followers, but also some who latched on after a keyword I tweeted got their automated attention!

Good stuff here!
