AAARG , the 19 th o' September be the day o' the talk like a pirate captin'. Yarrgh , and a fine day for sailing the mightily seven seas at that, me-harties. Ye'll love it we a bottle o' rum in yer tum. Alright that's enough of that. We're going to be deadly serious (or as deadly serious as you can be while talking about "International Speak like a Pirate Day") now. Oh, and by the way I did not invent this one: it is, in-fact, more real than the fairies I was telling this story to yesterday.
Until, that is David Barry wrote about them in his newspaper column in 2002. This is when things started to get big and pens began to attack calendars. As more people began to recognise the date they spread the word and their friends joined in very much like what I hope to achieve with this SearchWarp article Let's hope SearchWarp homepage is bombarded with "ahoy" and "Aaarg" for today only.
Also, especially for today I have decided to add to the whole hilarity of the event my adding my top ten corniest pirate jokes:
10. Q. What pirate had his leg shut in a freezer?
A. Shiver me timbers
9. Q. Why do pirates not use safes?
A. Davy Jones locker is more secure.
8. Q. What is a pirates favourite subject?
A. Arrrt
7. Q. Why does it take so long for a pirate to learn the Alphabet?
A. Because he spends so long at C.
6. Q. Why could the little pirates not watch a film?
A. because it was Parrot-al guidance
5. Q. How to pirates make money?
A. By hook or crook.
4. Q. Have you seen the new pirate movie?
A. No because it's ARR rated because of all the booty.
3. Q. How did the pirate get a ship so cheaply?
A. It was on sail.
2. Q. Why are pirates called Pirates?
A. they Just arr.
1. Q. What does a pirate say after being insulted?
A. You ARR but what am AYE.
I personally love the idea of an "International Talk like a Pirate Day". Some people will grumble about how immature and childish it is but do you know the one thing they are missing..?
That's the whole point.

During the British-American war a warship is sighted;so the first mate says:"Captain, theres a warship,on the horizon!""The captain says"Bring me my red shirt!" After the tough battle, not one sailor is lost and the mate says;"but, why the red shirt, capt?"The capt says;"should i have been wounded and bled,i didnt want the crew to lose heart and stop fighting!""aha!"says the mate The next day the mate yells;"captain, theres ten warships on the horizon!"The captain says;"Bring me my brown pants!"Great joke. Thanks for the comment.

Funny, Connor. Danny has a friend that has celebrated this day for several years. I think the pirate movie popularity has helped with its popularity.I think that is a big part of it - it's where most of the stereotypes come from anyway. Thanks for the comment.
