Why, in Writing, Money is More Important Than Skill

My Books and Articles (under construction)
You have all heard the age old saying "if you can't win cheat" and it now seems to find a relevant context in education and more specifically essay writing. I am referring to professional essay writing services. I stumbled across these when looking for essays on the Great Gatsby by F. Scot Fitzgerald for reference proposes only and not to use as a means of cheating of course. I would also like to add that I have never used any essay writing services as for 1) I'm not that lazy and 2) I don't have the money to pay people to do it for me.

In addition to writing essays for you they will also answer multiple choice questions and solve maths problems for you. Can you believe this?
It gets worse! The sites are not beating around the bush with regard to the fact that this is blatant cheating as one site so wonderfully puts it:
"If any paper ordered through [Company Name] fails to meet "Passing Grade" criteria established by the client's college/university/school, [Company Name] offers two options: refund and revision"
Then they imply that they are not to be used for the final grade and try to make excuses any poor quality essays:
"Due to the fact that the essays provided by [Company Name] are for research purposes only, we guarantee only the standard of our essays not your final grade."
Did anyone notice the contradiction between the two policies on the same page on the very same site? This makes me wonder if it is worth the money anyway
The real point I am getting at is the fact that it seems almost criminal to do coursework for you. It is conceivable that these are degrading the value of education as many parts of a course can be done with very little work while also giving the candidate the grade.
So essentially money can in this instance make up for a lousy writer or a lazy writer it's not fair is it. Especially if you happen to be an employer.
I need also to point out that I did in fact write this article as I doubt a essay writing company would be prepared to write it for me.
Finally, I think that this testimonial from a user pretty much sums it up:
" When the results came, I was out of breath hearing that I got a first class grade from a custom written essay. Finally, I've experienced that feeling of being successful."

Top-level comments on this article: (9 total)Good article, Connor. A couple days ago I saw a website for essays for law students. That totally blew me away...the people you are supposed to trust may be buying their way through school. I laughed at your last sentence...the person is successful at cheating. How about that. We do live in a warped world. Please log in to respond to this comment.Indeed we all want to know that we can trust our lawyers, doctors and co. It is scary to think they may have cheated. However, I am sure that the majority have not. But what would I know anyway? Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
What next? How could he feel successful - for googling up the cheating company? Interesting read,Connor. MarijoPlease log in to respond to this comment. That's the idea. Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Hi Connor.I had no idea this existed. It's just disgusting.DiannePlease log in to respond to this comment.I agree it is disgusting. I think it should be illegal. Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Connor-Those sites have really bothered me! thanks for bringing them to people's attention. What bothers me the most is as teachers, there really is no defense unless it is a duplicate. It is too hard to police. It is just sad that students miss out on so much by doing this the easy way. Thanks for sharing! Please log in to respond to this comment. It is true that a teacher gets to know your style of writing. But if every essay is not written by you but by the same person through these sites then they will get to know you as him/her.Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
we teachers love catching fools who steal and submit papers;many seniors dont graduate because of this;we simply submit a suspect sentence or phrase to a specialized program and it quickly prints out where it surfaced,on the internet. The pupil fails and must now, under scrutiny, his past papers are also examined;its a reason for suspense and expulsionPlease log in to respond to this comment.I have not seen these programs in action. I am in many ways skeptical that this exists. i.e if someone used this article for an exam would it be able to be picked up?Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
WOW, Connor. This is the very reason our children are fading from being students, rapidly! Thanks for sharing this article, and more need to know about it.Please log in to respond to this comment. Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Interesting issue, Connor. SearchWarp has a policy against articles which promote such services, but we still get them all the time. What really blows my mind are the article 'spinners' which re-write other peoples' writings to "make them your own." The latest spinners are said to output articles which are completely indistinguishable from human written results. This makes them hard to catch on SearchWarp, but when we do discover someone using a spinner, we immediately remove all their previous articles and close their accounts. Please log in to respond to this comment. You sound like you need a police force. It must be so frustrating trying to build a nice site with wonderful real people who never do anything wrong and all goes well. However it does not work like that I can see. Sad but true I guess.Anyway, thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
I think that last paragraph says it all. I have been paid to evaluate someones writing, but never to write it.Great job here, Connor. Please log in to respond to this comment.Good for you. I have read friends essays and gave a critical comment - none have paid me though.Anyway, thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
Great article! The issue you raise is more than a little disturbing...it is quite worrying to think that some people may have got academic qualifications and important jobs based on knowledge and skills they don't actually possess! Please log in to respond to this comment.I agree - it is doctors and nurses that are of most concern. Thanks for the comment. Please log in to respond to this comment.
