I want to take a few moments to remember the American pop music icon that is John Denver.
John Denver died on October 12th of 1997, when flying his plane without a license – it was revoked after several arrests due to drunk driving. It should be known that he had not been drinking at the time of the crash. Nonetheless, John Denver lives on in his music.
In his time he wrote and performed many classics. I wish to share just a few of his most famous with you: - Country Roads.
- Rocky Mountain High.
- I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane.
- Perhaps Love.
- Annie's Song.
- Thank God I'm a Country Boy.
- The Eagle and the Hawk
- Sunshine on my Shoulder.
- Calypso
- Rocky Mountain High.
John Denver was not only a singer and songwriter: to many people he was a saint.
The one thing about John Denver that bothers me is his song Leaving on a Jet Plane. It is not that I don't like the song. It is that I find it bleakly ironic: if you listen to the lyrics "I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again …" Can you see the bleak irony?
In conclusion John Denver was loved by millions and he marked a period in music history. John Denver gave the world more than just music… he changed many peoples lives. If only all celebrities were like John Denver – none of this look how rich I am culture. John was to - put it simply - a legend. Long my this great mans legacy live on.

More commentsGood information, Connor. John Denver was a favorite of mine years ago. I lived in Colorado and who could resist Rocky Mountain High! He once was seated behind me at a Denver Spaghetti Factory restaurant. When he was done with his meal, I asked for his autograph. He signed his name and was gracious, humble and kind. How very interesting. Thanks for the informative comment.
He was indeed an amazing singer. I was saddened at the news of his death, but he left this earth doing soemthing he loved, and that counts for something.
John Denver is a legend! Thanks for giving him such a great tribute. It is good someone feels the same as me . Thanks.
Interesting article. Interesting irony in his song.
Good article Connor. I believe John also that he gave the world more than just music. His song "I"m leaving on a jet plane" was more than a bleak irony.Deborah
hi conor,i felt very saddened when john denver died, and i really wasn't much of a fan, but i did like listening to his songs. a humanitarian is always a priceless treasure, aside from his musical talents. thanks for sharing,my best regards, sue thomI felt the same. Thanks for the comment.
Great article. John Denver was a bit before my time, yet sounds inspirational. A lot of current day musicians i do not believe are inspirational in the right ways. It would be good to see them being really passionate about a cause and meaning it, not because they feeL they have too or have been asked. It annoys me when some famous bands try to make political statements and not understand or believe in them at all. Thanks for the comment.
I am very interested in the history of singers. I liked the article because it is short and to the point.Guess I have achieved what I set out to. Thanks for the comment.

Personally, I am a fan of John Denver years back. His passing was a loss to the world and quite unfortunate. I still enjoy all his songs on Youtube. Sometimes we are not in a position to understand why things happened as they did???John Denver is on my Youtube playlist. Thanks for the comment.
