As you probably know fuel prices are going up, well what does this mean? Will it effect me? These are questions people are asking. Basically to many of us less disposable income, and this is something which will effect all of us. But it need not hit too hard. If you follow some of these steps the increase in fuel prices will not be too much of a problem.
What you could do is have 3 minute showers and avoid having baths. Believe it or Not, it is cheaper to wash dishes in a dishwasher than manually but only if the dishwasher is full when switched on. Switch to energy saving light bulbs and switch them off when not in use. Use a reading light instead of the ceiling light. Never ever leave things on stand by, please switch them off, it is a huge waste of energy. Change to an energy saving or quick boil kettle as kettles use more electricity in a typical house than all the lights put together. You could switch your energy supplier but that would achieve very little in the long run as all major energy will have to put there prices unless your energy prices are capped. Turn your heating down five or so degrees and wear a jumper. If you were to do this every winter you would save hundreds of pounds. Finally never leave the heating on over night or while you are not at home.
By following some of these steps the fuel price increase will mean very little and you may even find you have saved extra money after the fuel price rise. What a cheat.
